CAMPAIGN & ADVOCACY TRAINING
The Campaign Workshop runs campaign and advocacy training, but our training courses are not a fit for everyone based on budget and location. But don’t worry – there are plenty of training options out there that can help you hone your campaign, tactics, strategy and overall knowledge. We promote and encourage trainings run by other groups and organizations. We are committed to ensuring everyone who wants to get trained for political and advocacy strategy has access to great training opportunities.
PROGRESSIVE TRAINING
As well as providing our own Progressive training, we will also be sharing our progressive campaign training calendar to spread the word within other organisations promoting similar objectives to BLM. No matter the topic – campaign management, advocacy, field, digital, labour organising, LGBT campaigns, pro-choice campaigns, national races, down-ballot races, environmental activism – there is a training for everyone. Let us know how we can help spread the word about yours.
WE ARE ORGANISED
In a modern political campaign, the campaign organization will have a coherent structure and staff like any other large business. Political campaign staff is the people who formulate and implement the strategy needed to win an election. Many people have made careers out of working full-time for campaigns and groups that support them. However, in other campaigns much of the staff might be unpaid volunteers.
WE ARE PREPARED
They key to successful debating lies in preparation. Most memorable debates in modern history aren’t memorable because of the great performance of a candidate; they are memorable because of major candidate blunders. With that in mind, make sure your candidate is well prepared and well versed in the issues of the campaign before you joust in your first debate. We have made ourselves well prepared for a better future within our community.
WE ARE EDUCATED
As a society, we seem to be unsure about when someone becomes an adult. Is it a physical change? Or is it a mental or emotional change? While numerous opinions exist on this matter, the only real agreement for most is that legal adulthood occurs at 18 when young people are permitted to purchase alcohol and tobacco, vote in elections, and receive their full complement of rights as adults. However, BLM is ready to take political education to a new level; as we are more educated than that!
WE ARE LEADERS FIGHTING INJUSTICE
Compassion literally means “to suffer together.” Among emotion researchers, it is defined as the feeling that arises when you are confronted with another’s suffering and feel motivated to relieve that suffering, particularly within the Black community. Help us to continue the fight against crime, social and racial injustices.
WE PROVIDE SUPPORT
As a growing organisation, we are able to offer our members key support at the local, regional and national level. You are further reminded that pilot schemes of increased training and support will be rolled out in due course to ensure that we are able to connect even to those in the remotest parts of the country.
VOLUNTEERING
We build and create Volunteer Groups
Join many people up and down the country undertaking public service in support of our movement. As part of our commitment to you as a BLM volunteer, we will provide advice, information, support and training to our members who want to volunteer.
